A BIT ABOUT ME
MY JOURNEY
I grew up in the Adelaide hills, then moved to Loxton in the Riverland when I graduated Uni and have spent the last 5 years there. I moved over to the Barossa Valley at the start of 2021 where I began working at Tanunda Physio & Health.
FAMILY
My parents still live in the hills and my older sister and her fiancée are not far away from them. I try to get down as often as I can to catch up with them.
HOBBIES
My childhood hobby has always been horse riding, I still have a passion for it even if I can’t so it as often now.
SPORTS I PLAY
Netball and Basketball are my main sports, now being a member of the Angaston Netball Club.
TEAMS I SUPPORT
I am a dedicated Port Adelaide supporter with Dad and I being members for years now. Watching the footy has always been one of my favourite things to do with my dad.
FAVOURITE LOCAL RESTAURANT / CAFÉ
Being new to the Barossa there are so many new places to try, my favourite so far being Browns Barossa Doughnuts in Tanunda. Their homemade doughnuts and coffee are definitely an indulgence but so delicious.
FAVOURITE WAY TO STAY ACTIVE
Besides playing sports, I love running and have a goal to complete a marathon one day. I also love Pilates and yoga especially for strength and condition and recovery.
FAVOURITE PLACE TRAVELLED TO
I was lucky enough to spend some time in Europe before COVID hit and as amazing as it is there, my favourite place was probably Scotland. It was so beautiful and I was able to meet my family over there which was very special.
SOMETHING THAT MAY SURPRISE YOU
Despite being a physio, I have had a number of injuries mainly netball related ones. We all get sore and need a good physio to help us get back on track.
ME THE PHYSIO
MY PHYSIO BACKGROUND
I spent 5 years in a rural private practice in the Riverland before joining Tanunda Physio & Health. I have developed my musculoskeletal skills and had experience in pilates, aged care, NDIS, Hydrotherapy and Pilates.
I’ve also been a sports trainer for a football team for a number of years.
WHY I CHOSE TO BE A PHYSIO
I chose to be a physio because I love sport and I knew that I wanted to help people be active and healthy. As soon as I started studying I knew this was the career for me.
WHY I LOVE BEING A PHYSIO
Being a physio gives me such joy seeing and helping people achieve their goals. Caring for my patients and helping them heal is incredibly rewarding, and to have the skills and knowledge to do that. As a profession we have a unique position in the community to help care and educate a wide variety of people and conditions.
WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT?
I’ll look at your symptoms and provide a holistic care model encompassing mobility and control assessments with a hands-on treatment approach and ongoing exercise strategies to manage your health long term.
TOP TIPS
BEST WAY TO KEEP ACTIVE & HEALTHY
Vary your exercise, whether it’s Pilates, weight training or walking the dog, daily movement is key. If you are noticing something that is making your movement difficult, don’t hesitate to get it looked at. It’s better to get on top of it early than to let it become a bigger issue.
MOVEMENT TIP
Do something that you enjoy and that feels good to you.
MY CORE MESSAGE IS
Movement is essential
