FAQs

What do I need to bring?

Please wear or have with you comfortable clothing that allows us to access the area of complaint (e.g. singlet, shorts) to allow for the best assessment and treatment to be performed.

If you have any scans, reports or other relevant documentation please bring these with you to your first visit.

Bring your health insurance card if you have extras cover as this will allow you to claim instantly.

Do I need a referral?

No, you do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist. Physiotherapists are highly skilled and qualified to assess you injury and treat appropriately.

If you are claiming under work cover, veterans affairs, motor vehicle accident or enhanced primary care schemes you will need to bring the appropriate paperwork.

How long will my appointment be?

We have 40 minute and 60 minute options for the initial assessment for new conditions, with the longer option allowing more thorough assessment and especially good for complex or multiple area problems.

Follow-up treatments are 20-25 minutes which may vary based on the therapist, region or nature of the presentation and the type of treatment used.

Extended subsequent sessions are also available up to 40 minutes and some advanced appointment types may be 1 hour.

What will happen at my appointment?

Your first visit will involve a detailed assessment of your presenting complaint in order to determine the source and cause of your issue. You will receive appropriate treatment and an indication on the prognosis of your injury.

What will I pay?

How much you pay will depend on the type of consultation you receive and the level of health insurance you have.

If you have ‘extras cover’ you will only be required to pay the gap. Please contact your health provider to find out how much they will contribute to your treatments. We use a tiered fee structure where individual fees for therapists will vary based on the level of experience and qualifications of the therapist.

Please contact us for more information specific to your needs.

Do I need health insurance?

No. You do not need health insurance but if you have health insurance with extras cover you will pay less as this will cover a portion of your visit.

How do I claim my health insurance rebate?

Just bring your health insurance card with you to your treatment and by using our HICAPS machine the portion of your treatment that is paid for will be deducted on the spot leaving you to pay the gap only. Click here for more information.

If you forget your card, you will need to pay the full fee then claim back from the health fund. This is a quick and simple process with most funds allowing you to do this online.

Who is best to see for my injury?

Within our team we have therapists with different areas of special interest and additional training. To find out which therapist may be most appropriate for your needs, please contact us, or visit “Our Team” page to read about each of us.

If you are experiencing pain, stiffness or reduced mobility it is most likely a physiotherapist is your best place to start. Physiotherapists specialise in the human body and movement so in most cases are able to restore your level of comfort and function using a range of techniques. This includes but is not limited to massage, joint mobilisation and exercise.

Should you need further referral for investigation or specialist review your physiotherapist will be able to make this assessment and make appropriate referrals.

What training does a physiotherapist require?

Physiotherapy is a 4 year degree at university level. lncluded in this is detailed study of theoretical subjects such as anatomy, biomechanics, physiology as well as practical components for training in assessment and treatment (including massage).

It is a requirement of registration that physiotherapists complete a minimum of 20 hours per year of additional education so these skills are continually built upon.

We place high value on prioritising ongoing learning. As a team we conduct weekly 1.5 hour professional development in addition to each team member undertaking regular additional training in their own areas of interest.
