Headache Assessment: What to Expect

What most people who book a headache assessment with us want to know is

“what is causing my headaches?” and “how can I get rid of them?”

That’s exactly what the initial visit will reveal!

The main goal of the 1st visit is to prove to both you and your physio that your neck is involved as a key driver of your headache.

Once we have proven this link, we know that the majority of people will respond well to the treatment we can provide.

This is the first step in your path to a life without a headache!

How do we prove your headache is related to your neck and will respond to treatment?

  • Prior to your visit we will send you a form asking about your headache
  • We will listen to you, to understand your headaches behaviour and how it affects you
  • We examine structures in the neck known to cause headaches.
  • This includes gentle pressure and movements through your neck
  • a relationship is confirmed by gentle reproduction of the headache

We appreciate this can be worrying for some people but is a normal response and any headache brought on will ease and go away.

Once we prove that treating your neck can help your headaches, we will:

  • Start treatment immediately, during that 1st session.
  • Give you a clear plan for how to overcome your headaches
  • Give you confidence that there is a solution for you
