Headache Treatment: What to Expect

Once we have been able to prove a link between your neck and your headaches, we know that our treatments are expected to work!

The treatments we are trained in and use are the gold standard in headache treatment and are used successfully on thousands of people all around the world every day.

What to expect from treatment?

  • all techniques are firm but gentle, and safe for everyone.
  • No manipulation or ‘cracking’
  • we will bring on your headache through gentle techniques involving pressure to your upper neck
  • the pressure will be maintained until the headache eases.
  • Depending on your individual case, you may be given ‘homework’ (exercises) to help treatment along

We will recommend an initial 4 – 6 treatments over 2 – 3 weeks after your assessment.

This is the amount that has been shown to give the best results – short and long term!

  • During these sessions, we expect to see a noticeable change in your headache’s behaviour.
  • If your headache is responding well, we will continue with less frequent visits until the headache has fully responded- this will vary for each individual person.

You will also be helped to understand why you get your headache and how to prevent it in the future!

What if this approach doesn’t help me?

A large proportion of people will experience great benefits including complete resolution
But as in all things, we acknowledge that not everyone responds to this specific approach. This is why we always review after the initial 4-6 treatments.

If this approach is not working for you, then there are still other things we can do, and we will discuss these options with you!
