ME THE PHYSIO

MY PHYSIO BACKGROUND

Originally a qualified wood machinist and cabinet maker, I decided to trade the workshop for a career in health after the Global Financial Crisis caused a lot of businesses in my trade to close, and I found myself out of a job.

I initially completed a Diploma of Fitness, which gave me a great background in working with people with health conditions. This was my stepping stone to studying my Bachelor of Physiotherapy which I completed at UniSA in 2019

WHY I CHOSE TO BE A PHYSIO

I needed to see a physiotherapist myself for several work and sporting injuries, and was inspired by what I saw. I decided that I wanted to be able to provide the same experience for others.

In a way, finding myself out of a job was one of the best things that has happened, and it gave me the opportunity to pursue something I had been thinking about for some time!

WHY I LOVE BEING A PHYSIO

Being able to help people move better and without pain is incredibly rewarding, especially when it’s a longstanding issue that they have lived with for some time. I especially love helping people with their headache and migraines.

WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT?

My experiences training in high level sports and studying fitness mean I have high level conditioning and strength training knowledge.

My previous trade experience means I’ve spent a lot of time on residential and commercial worksites, interacting and working alongside many different trades.

Together, this means I can combine my first-hand understanding of what many jobs involve with my fitness and physiotherapy training to help get you back to sport or work after an injury.

In addition, my special interest in neck, headache and jaw pain means I have pursued extra learning in these areas not commonly performed by other therapists.

TOP TIPS

BEST WAY TO KEEP ACTIVE & HEALTHY

Find something you enjoy doing – it’s much easier to keep active and moving when its

enjoyable rather than a chore.

MOVEMENT TIP

So much of our modern lifestyle involves sitting or staying in one place for long periods. Look for opportunities to move throughout the day – even if it is just to stand and stretch.

MY CORE MESSAGE IS

Everyone can improve. You are never too old or too young or too sore or too ‘far gone’. If you never give it a shot, you’ll never know how good you can be.

GUIDING QUOTE

There’s very little that getting stronger won’t help in some way.
