The Best Reformer Pilates Exercise For People With Neck or Shoulder Pain
Do you stand or walk all day and suffer from neck or shoulder pain? Reformer pilates is a great way to develop your postural muscles to support you throughout the day.
The Chariot Pull is a great choice for someone who stands or walks all day or has neck/shoulder pain to really load up the postural challenges. It’s very safe as there is minimal movement, but it’s harder than it looks –this one should be felt in the core, glutes and upper back.
The Chariot Pull
This exercise is a fantastic way to transition someone to more challenging exercises with less reliance on the reformer.
Here it is a mix of both assistive and resistive set up. The chariot pull is mainly a postural exercise in extension with a bit of lats activation and balance work.
We mainly want a lovely long spinal posture which is neutral and minimal work in the lower back. This should be felt in the core, glutes and upper back.
Adding the cross row into it, gives the arms and shoulder a bit more of a challenge and really ramps up how hard the core has to work to remain balanced.
Reformer pilates is one of the best forms of low impact exercise that can be tailored to your level and needs – from basic exercise to high resistance and high challenge movements!
