Functional Screening Assessments – Save money and improve worker productivity and safety
Reduce risk of injury to your workers by screening them at any stage from pre-hire to retire to assess their suitability to work and identify risk factors for injury.
Tanunda Physio & Health’s occupational physiotherapists are trained in the JobFit System PEFA system.
What is a PEFA?
A PEFA includes any of
- Pre-employment Functional Assessment
- Periodic Employment Functional Assessment (including return to work)
- Post Employment Functional Assessment
Basically, a PEFA is a collection of tests to provide information about a workers functional ability to perform specific activities related to their job. You can use it from pre-hire to retire.
PEFA worker screenings have a number of uses.
While commonly used in pre-employment recruiting, PEFA’s don’t have to be ‘one-off’ assessments. They can be used to:
- determine a worker’s ability to safely meet the requirements of the job for appropriate job placement (including at employment and in role changes)
- assess a workers ability to safely return to work following injury
- identify a worker’s current injuries and movement restrictions for appropriate treatment;
- periodic routine screenings identify a workers changing capacity that may increase risk of injury.
- identify worker needs to design an appropriate fit for work exercise program to reduce identified risks of injury
- establish a worker’s baseline to monitor the effectiveness of wellness, conditioning and rehabilitation programs
How to make a PEFA most effective.
For the best results, a Task Analysis can be performed to accurately assess the job demands and compare worker screening results to job demands in your workplace.
